Today, I’d like to share some big news. As BigChange moves into its ninth successful year, our current chairman Richard Warley will be supporting the next phase of our growth by taking on the role of CEO.

He will now be driving this business forward. I will be stepping into a chairman role, focusing on strategy, acquisitions, special projects, and international growth. I retain a significant shareholding in the business and remain totally committed to the growth and success of this company, as I have always been.

Richard joined BigChange after our investment round with Great Hill Partners in February this year and, over the past five months, I have had the opportunity to witness him in action. Richard brings almost 30 years of experience in investment banking, private equity and operational leadership roles across Europe, Japan and North America to the role of CEO. He shares my entrepreneurial mindset, my laser focus on customer service, and my commitment to creating a world-beating product. I am delighted that he will be focusing all his energies on helping BigChange to achieve its potential.

As an entrepreneur, you learn to be highly cognisant of your skills. You know when you need to bring in outside talent to take on a specific role or project and where your abilities can achieve the greatest impact. I know where my strengths lie: I am an expert creator of businesses and I’m the best leader to turn a start-up into a scale-up. I am also a people person; I love talking to everyone, from customers to colleagues, and feeding insights back into the business. As a serial entrepreneur, I have honed my skills in business development and enjoy deal-making and forging partnerships. This is why I know that the right place for me, right now, is focusing on strategy, helping BigChange to conquer the US, and seeking out acquisitions to shore up our dominant position worldwide.

I couldn’t be more confident that Richard is the ideal person to take on the day-to-day running of the business. He is passionate about BigChange, he’s taken the time to get to know our people and our culture, and he has an extraordinary depth of experience running billion-pound companies. It is our hope that, together, we can help BigChange to reach this milestone – unicorn status – in just a few years. We currently employ over 200 people around the world, and we hope to take that figure to 500 people. It’s a big job, and one that will require an understanding of process, a keen eye on the P&L and a tight hold on our Objectives and Key Results. It will only be achieved through teamwork and a merging of Richard’s and my complementary skillsets.

This is the time to invest in the future of BigChange. Over the coming months we will be bringing on both a new Chief Technology Officer and a Chief Financial Officer. I will be spending a lot of time in the US, building partnerships and acting as an ambassador for the brand as we move across the Continent and sign ever-bigger deals. It’s always been my ambition to have another go at cracking the States. I fell in love with the country when I started my bakery business in New York all those years ago. As BigChange’s chief visionary officer – a role I will retain – I know that spending time with our new American customers will generate a lot of insight that will help shape our offering in the years to come.

This is a really exciting time for both me and for BigChange. I feel as though I have had a promotion and relish the prospect of a new challenge. My ambitions for BigChange have only intensified over the last few years and I know that with Richard by my side, we have the best chance of executing our plan to become the leading mobile workforce management platform in every market we target around the world. I hope you will join me in congratulating Richard. I couldn’t imagine a better partner for the next chapter.
